Brad Hertzler Joins Rox as Pitching Coach

Brockton, Mass. - Former Rox reliever Brad Hertzler is returning to Brockton, this time as the Pitching Coach for the 2012 Brockton Rox. Hertzler will assist Head Coach Jud Thigpen and Associate Head Coach Ted Currle as the Rox enter their first season in the Futures Collegiate Baseball League (FCBL).

Hertzler spent three seasons with the Rox as a pitcher from 2009 to 2011. The southpaw appeared in 101 games out of the bullpen for Brockton, which ranks second all-time in club history. He compiled a career record of 5-8 with the Rox to go along with a pair of saves in 129 innings of work. Hertzler finished with a 3.97 ERA through three seasons with Brockton, while recording 82 strikeouts.

Prior to his time in the City of Champions, the Westport, Mass. native spent two season in the Oakland Athletics organization after being drafted by the A's in the 15th round of the 2007 MLB Draft. Hertzler went 3-6 with a 4.20 ERA in 2007 with the Vancouver Canadians of the Northwest League. The left-hander made 12 starts and registered 46 strikeouts in 60 innings of work.

Hertzler spent part of 2008 with Vancouver before joining the Class-A Kane County Cougars of the Midwest League. During his time with both squads, Hertzler went 4-6 with a 4.94 ERA and 56 strikeouts through 78.1 innings on the hill.
