WINNIPEG, MB - The Blue Bombers will have a familiar face back in the defensive trenches in 2005 with the re-signing of defensive end Jon Oosterhuis to a new contract for one year plus an option.

Oosterhuis will be entering his fourth season with the Bombers. He dressed for all 18 regular-season games for the Blue and Gold in 2004 and had three tackles during the season.

Bombers G.M. and Vice-President of Football Operations Brendan Taman says Oosterhuis's presence will provide the team with some much-needed depth along the defensive line.

"Jon is a guy who plays an integral role on our team," Taman said. "He works very hard and is a quality non-import player that we are glad is remaining with our team."

Oosterhuis was originally drafted by the Calgary Stampeders in the 1st Round (8th Overall) of the 2002 Canadian College Draft. Calgary released the promising youngster in September of 2002 and the Blue Bombers quickly signed him as a free agent.
