February 24, 2018 - Major Arena Soccer League (MASL)
Ontario Fury News Release

The Ontario Fury, Driven by Mark Christopher Chevrolet, lost control of its playoff destiny Friday night, falling to the Tacoma Stars 8-6 at accesso ShoWare Center in Kent, Wash.

Tacoma and Ontario are now tied at 10-11 in the standings with one game each to play. The Stars hold the tiebreaker between the two teams, having won three of the four meetings between the two teams this season. Ontario closes the season against the Pacific Division champion San Diego Sockers (16-3) at home Thursday, while Tacoma hosts the Kansas City Comets (6-12) on Friday night. Ontario would need to beat San Diego and have Tacoma lose to Kansas City to make the playoffs.

Friday night, the Stars jumped out to a 3-0 lead in the second period thanks to two goals from Nick Perera and another by Joey Gjertsen. Adrien Garcia (Ontario High, Loyola Marymount) got the Fury on the board midway through the second period, but Ontario went into the half down 4-1 as Jamael Cox scored the first of his three goals in the game.

Juan Gonzalez cut the lead in half 40 seconds into the third quarter, but Tacoma took a four-goal lead before Ontario worked back into the game. The Fury pulled the goaltender for the extra attacker, scoring three times, but could only get back with two in the final minute.

Chico Francisco Cordiero scored two goals and had an assist for the Fury in the loss.

Thursday's final regular season game against San Diego will be Fan Appreciation Night, with a post-game autograph session on the field and other surprises for fans. The game will kickoff at 7 p.m. at Citizens Business Bank Arena.
