Florida Tropics SC News Release
BALTIMORE, Md. - The Florida Tropics saw their playoff hopes go to black Saturday night in Baltimore as the Blast rallied from a two-goal fourth-quarter deficit to pick up a 8-7 overtime win, eliminating the Tropics from the Major Arena Soccer League playoff picture.
Baltimore built a 4-1 lead in the first half, and led 5-3 at intermission before a dominant Tropics performance in the third quarter put Florida up 7-5 with 15 minutes to play. Baltimore got the equalizer with over seven minutes to go, but neither team could end it in regulation.
It ended very quickly in overtime, just 14 seconds in when Juan Pereira knocked in the game winner. It was Florida's second overtime in franchise history. Earlier this year at home, the Tropics lost to Syracuse, 10-9.
Freddy Moojen and Ricardo Diegues each had two goals for the Tropics, while Maurcio Salles, Lucas Texiera and Victor Parreiras also scored. The loss dropped Florida's mark to 10-10 on the season while Baltimore, the two-time defending MASL champs, who had already wrapped up the eastern division regular season title, improved to 17-4.
Florida will end its 2017-18 season on the road with games Saturday, March 3 in Milwaukee and Sunday, March 4 in Kansas City. Both games will be broadcast live at www.masl.tv.
