November 4, 2015 - Major Arena Soccer League (MASL)
Ontario Fury News Release

The Ontario Fury, Driven by Mark Christopher Chevrolet, have signed free agent forward Joey Tavernese for the 2015-16 Major Arena Soccer League season.

Tavernese, who played for the Rochester Lancers last season, had previously signed with expansion Hartford FC for the upcoming season but became a free agent when Hartford was disbanded last week.

With Ontario, Tavernese will be reunited with former Rochester teammates Stephen Basso and Mauricio Salles. The duo of Tavernese and Salles were the top two scorers for the Lancers last season. Salles led the team with 41 goals and 57 points, while Tavernese was second with 26 goals and 41 points.

"Adding Joey with Mauricio gives us a potent one-two punch up front," said Fury President and Coach Bernie Lilavois. "Add in the familiarity these two bring to each other's game, and they will be give us another weapon for teams to try and stop."

Tavernese just completed his third season with Rochester. In 45 games with the Lancers, he scored 35 goals and 31 assists. He attended Siena College, where he tied the school record for career appearances with 75. He is third in the program's history with 17 assists and tenth with 39 career points.
