New Mexico United News Release
Albuquerque, NM - As part of 2020's "Giving Tuesday," the Somos Unidos Foundation is thrilled to announce two exciting new partnerships with organizations focused on making New Mexico a better place to be a kid. Puma North America - New Mexico United's kit brand sponsor, and new United Soccer League partner - will donate 505 Puma backpacks and soccer balls to New Mexican children in need. These items will be distributed to kids in need across the Land of Enchantment, making an impact in the lives of hundreds.
Portland, Oregon-based book company A Kids Book About, creates books aimed at explaining complex concepts and difficult conversations in an understandable and relatable way for children. Several of the company's books, including "A Kids Book About Racism" and "A Kids Book About Empathy" were recently featured on Oprah's "Favorite Things" 2020 list. The company will host a "buy one, give one" campaign on "Giving Tuesday," (December 1st.) Each "A Kids Book About" book that is purchased nationwide will see a book donated to a New Mexican child, with a minimum of 505 books to be donated.
"We are thrilled to partner with these wonderful community advocates, who simply want to make New Mexico a better place to be a kid," said Somos Unidos Foundation Executive Director Chanel Wiese. "These donations will go directly to kids in need in our state, and make an immediate impact. These kids will know that they are loved, and that they have an entire community behind them."
In addition, Ben Tertin, the author of "A Kids Book about Adventure," will join New Mexico United and the Somos Unidos Foundation in a live interview at 6pm on "Giving Tuesday" (December 1st) on New Mexico United's social media channels. Tertin will discuss his book, as well as the mission of "A Kids Book About" and the exciting partnership with the Somos Unidos Foundation.
You can purchase your very own books, through "A Kids Book About," by going to akidsbookabout.com.
