Union Omaha News Release

Fort Lauderdale, Fla. - Union Omaha continued its strong start to the season on Friday night, defeating Fort Lauderdale CF 2-0 at DRV PNK Stadium.

As he did in Omaha's first match of the season, Evan Conway opened the scoring for los Búhos. Defender Damia Viader did well to find space down the left flank and fizz in a pinpoint low cross, which Conway poked home to give Omaha the lead just after the half-hour mark.

The second half produced plenty of chances for both sides, with Omaha's Rashid Nuhu and Fort Lauderdale's Drake Callender each making a number of high-quality saves.

But Viader would put the game beyond reach for the home side on 71 minutes, adding a goal to his earlier assist. JP Scearce played in Viader with a smart through ball, and the Spaniard made no mistake, firing a bullet of a low shot which found the inside of the far post.

The 2-0 result would hold up for the visitors, giving Omaha two shutout wins by the same scoreline in their opening two League One matches of 2021. Next up for the Owls is a midweek trip to New England Revolution II next Wednesday, while Fort Lauderdale hosts FC Tucson on Sunday, May 16.
