South Georgia Tormenta FC News Release
PAPILLION, Neb. - Union Omaha continues to be a thorn in South Georgia Tormenta FC's side, with the Blue and Magenta falling 2-3 via a goal converted in second half stoppage time. South Georgia now has an all-time record of 0-6-3 (W-L-D) against its USL League One counterpart.
South Georgia goalkeeper Pablo Jara started the match off well, making an important save in the 13th minute of the match, but Omaha took the lead via a penalty kick in the 31st minute.
Omaha extended its lead in the 50th minute, but Nick Akoto scored six minutes later to keep the match close.
Tormenta FC continued to battle and tied the score 2-2. A great run into the box and goal by Mukwelle Akale had TFC on the brink of earning an important road point.
However, Alexis Souahy scored a late goal to dash the hopes of South Georgia.
Following Saturday's result, Tormenta FC now travels back home to prepare for an important clash against North Carolina FC from Optim Sports Medicine Field at Tormenta Stadium in Statesboro, Georgia, on Saturday, Aug. 5, at 7:30 p.m. ET (ESPN+).
