Omaha Storm Chasers News Release

LAST NIGHT'S GAME TWO WIN: The Chasers took a commanding 2-0 lead in the American Conference Championship with a 7-4 win over the Oklahoma City RedHawks, powered by a five-run sixth inning and a game-winning two-run double by Irving Falu, his first multi-RBI game since July 23 at Oklahoma City and only his fifth of the season. The seven runs were the most Omaha has scored in 10 games at Oklahoma City in 2013.

BROOMS AT THE READY: Omaha is going for a second playoff series sweep in team history tonight, with the only sweep being the 2011 PCL Championship Series over the Sacramento River Cats. Omaha has won the first two games of a five-game series three times in team history now (the other is the 2011 American Conference Championship, also with two wins on the road, which Omaha won in four games vs Round Rock). With Salt Lake leading the Pacific Conference Championship 2-0, both opening round series in the PCL Playoffs could result in sweeps for the first time since 1997.

BACK-TO-BACK-TO-BACK: With a win in any of the three remaining games at Werner Park, the Chasers will advance to a third straight Pacific Coast League Championship series. Six teams in the history of the PCL have appeared in three straight Championship rounds: the Sacramento River Cats in 2007-2009, the Albuquerque Dukes in 1980-1983 (four years), the Hawaii Islanders in 1975-1977, the Oakland Oaks in 1946-1948, the San Francisco Seals in 1943-1946 (four years) and the Seattle Rainiers in 1940-1942.

OKLAHOMA LOVES OMAHA: While the RedHawks have never played a playoff game at Werner Park, Oklahoma City has won all four playoff games in franchise history in Omaha. They took both of the two games at Rosenblatt Stadium during the 1996 American Association Division Series as well the 1999 American Conference Championship series after the two teams split the two matchups in OKC in both series. Omaha is 13-11 all-time vs Oklahoma City at Werner Park.

STRUGGLES AT HOME: Oklahoma City is not the only team to play well at Rosenblatt and Werner Park in the playoffs, as Omaha is only 18-23 all-time in home playoff games as opposed to 25-24 in road playoff games. The Chasers have won four of the eight playoff games at Werner Park, including a 1-3 mark in last year's postseason.

ON YOUR MARKS, GET SET, THROW: Justin Marks led the PCL in the month of August in strikeouts at 45, the most strikeouts he has ever posted in a month in his professional career. Marks also posted a 2.13 ERA during the final month of the 2013 season, the lowest ERA in his career for a month with more than 15.0 innings pitched.

WORST BEATS BEST: The last time the worst PCL playoff team beat the best team in the first round was the Oklahoma RedHawks besting the Iowa Cubs 3-2 in 2008.
