Omaha Loses Big at Home to OKC, 16-6

OMAHA, Neb. - The Omaha Storm Chasers were thumped, 16-6, on Monday night by the Oklahoma City RedHawks. The Hawks' 16 runs were the most given up by the Chasers this season, as were the 21 hits.

Chris Dwyer (0-1) was hit the loss in his first career start at the Triple-A level after giving up seven runs over 11 hits in 5.0 innings pitched. Roman Colon pitched a bizarre sixth inning as he allowed seven runs to score but due to three Omaha (58-38) errors, none of the tallies were earned. Brandon Sisk worked a scoreless seventh and eighth while outfielder Mitch Maier made an appearance on the mound and pitched a scoreless ninth inning and was the first Storm Chasers' position player to pitch since Lucas May did it on May 22 of last year against Las Vegas.

The RedHawks' (55-40) Brad Snyder handed OKC a 3-0 lead with his three-run home run in the second. The visitors added another run in the fourth before a two-run double by Anthony Seratelli in the bottom half of the frame cut Omaha's deficit in half.

Things went completely haywire for the Chasers as they committed three errors and gave up ten runs in the top of the sixth to fall in to a 14-2 hole. The scoring for the inning ended in dramatic fashion as OKC's Jimmy Paredes connected for a three-run shot.

Omaha added a lone run in the eighth when Johnny Giavotella doubled to left-center field then scurried home on a throwing error by Sergio Perez. Oklahoma City added two more runs in the ninth. The home team tallied three runs in the home half of the inning when Adam Moore was hit by a pitch with the bases loaded and Tony Abreu singled up the middle to drive in two before Anthony Seratelli struck out to end the game.
