Today's Game-- The RedHawks and Storm Chasers are back at it about 13 hours after finishing last night's game when they start at 12:05 p.m. this afternoon.
Last Night-- The RedHawks exploded for 10 runs in the sixth inning and Brad Snyder hit two home runs in a 16-6 romp over the Storm Chasers. Snyder opened up the scoring with a three-run shot out to right-center field in the second inning. Leading off the fourth, Snyder went the other way with a line drive into the bleachers in left field to make it 4-0. Anthony Seratelli hit a two-run double in the bottom of the fourth to cut the RedHawks' lead in half. The RedHawks took complete command with a 10-run top of the sixth. The rally featured eight hits, two errors, and three wild pitches. The final eight runs scored with two outs. Leading 14-3, the RedHawks plated their final two runs in the ninth on a two-run single by Landon Powell against Omaha outfielder turned pitcher Mitch Maier. In his first full start since rejoining the RedHawks, Dallas Keuchel went six strong innings. Keuchel (6-4) allowed two runs and four hits. He walked a season-high five and struck out three.
Today's Probable Pitchers-- Paul Clemens looks for his first win six starts when he takes the mound...Early on in his last start Thursday against New Orleans, Clemens looked great, retiring the first 10 hitters...However, he gave up a run later in the fourth and surrendered a two-run homer before exiting with two outs in the fifth...Since his last win on June 12, Clemens is 0-3 with a 6.59 ERA...He leads the team with both eight wins and 94.1 IP, while ranking second with 63 strikeouts...He's had some trouble against Omaha this season, allowing 12 runs and 18 hits over 10.1 IP...His previous start at Werner Park came on three days' rest on May 7, when he allowed a season-high eight runs over 3.1 IP...Doug Davis looks to straighten things out after his roughest start with the Storm Chasers...On Thursday against Iowa, Davis allowed six runs and nine hits--both season highs--over five innings....He had allowed just five runs in his previous five starts combined...After getting stretched out in the bullpen, Davis is 5-0 with a 2.83 ERA over six starts...On June 24, Davis shut down the RedHawks over six scoreless innings in OKC...He allowed four singles with six strikeouts...In parts of five seasons (1999-2003) with the RedHawks, Davis was 24-6 with a 3.82 ERA
Blowout City-- Yesterday's 10-run win was the RedHawks' largest margin of victory this season. They have won the last two nights by a combined score of 28-9. It's a big turnaround, as each of their five previous wins came by just one run.
Offensive Onslaught-- After getting shutout Saturday night, the RedHawks have combined for 28 runs and 33 hits the last two games. Last night the RedHawks tied a season high with 16 runs and had more than 20 hits in a game for the second time this season (May 17 @ Reno: 16 R, 22 H). Eight players had multi-hit games.
Homer Happy-- The RedHawks hit three homers last night after hitting a total of three over their previous eight games. In five games at Werner Park, they have left the yard 10 times. They rank second in the PCL with 107 dingers.
Snyder's Surge-- Prior to last night, Brad Snyder had not homered since June 16 at Round Rock. His previous multi-homer game came on his 30th birthday on May 25 in Albuquerque.
Shuck-tacular-- J.B. Shuck is on a season-best eight-game hitting streak, going 11-for-24 (.458). What makes it more impressive is that he's only started four times during the streak and has had two or less at-bats four times.
Breaking Even-- With last night's win, the RedHawks are 24-24 away from OKC and are at .500 on the road for the first time since they were 13-13 on May 26. They have won seven of their last 10 road games.
The Extra Bat-- The RedHawks are 8-12 in games using a DH. Collectively, team DH's this season have hit .260 with six homers and 19 RBIs.
Two-Out Thrashers-- The RedHawks scored 10 times with two outs last night. 28 of their last 46 runs have scored with two down.
Under the Sun-- After today, the RedHawks will have just one more weekday day game--the regular season finale on September 3--and three day games overall. They are 8-8 in day games.
That's Some Quality-- The RedHawks have received quality starts in consecutive games for just the second time since June 1.
Against the Storm Chasers-- The RedHawks have struggled against the Storm Chasers this season, dropping seven of nine contests...Their previous trip to Werner Park in May resulted in the only series in which the RedHawks have been swept this year, including back-to-back losses on walk-off homers, May 5-6...The pitching staff has posted a 6.29 ERA...Anthony Seratelli has five home runs and nine RBIs...David Lough has collected 14 RBIs over eight games...While playing for New Orleans, Matt Dominguez hit .407 with 11 RBIs over seven games against the Storm Chasers...They will meet one more time after this series, July 28-31 in Oklahoma City.
