Oklahoma City Comets News Release
Oklahoma City - The Omaha Storm Chasers scored four runs in the top of the 12th inning to break open Sunday afternoon's game and send the Oklahoma City Dodgers to an 8-5 loss at Chickasaw Bricktown Ballpark.
The teams played to a 3-3 tie through nine innings in the series finale. Each team then scored a run in the 11th inning, playing to a 4-4 tie.
In the top of the 12th inning, Adalberto Mondesi hit a RBI triple and Frank Schwindel followed with a RBI single for the Storm Chasers. Terrance Gore later hit a two-out triple to bring home two more runs for an 8-4 Omaha edge.
The Dodgers loaded the bases in the bottom of the inning and brought home a run on a sacrifice fly by Rocky Gale, but were unable to close the gap in the team's longest game of the season in terms of time (4 hours, 10 minutes) and innings.
Oklahoma City (33-20) entered the game with the most home wins in the Minors and fell to 23-6 at Chickasaw Bricktown Ballpark.
The Dodgers took the field Sunday as Cielo Azul de Oklahoma City during ¡CelebraciÃ"n Cielo Azul! and won the series against the Storm Chasers, 3-2.
Omaha (24-32) scored the game's first run in the second inning. Paulo Orlando led off the inning with a home run out to left field that hit off the Budweiser Deck to give Omaha a 1-0 advantage. In the third inning, Ryan O'Hearn's RBI double on a fly ball into right field extended Omaha's lead to 2-0.
The Dodgers got on the scoreboard in the third inning. Michael Ahmed singled and came around to score on a RBI single by Jacob Scavuzzo to cut Omaha's lead to 2-1. Angelo Mora's RBI single in the fourth inning brought home Edwin RÃ-os with one out to tie the game, 2-2.
The Dodgers took a 3-2 lead in the sixth inning on Mora's RBI knock.
Omaha knotted the game, 3-3, in the seventh inning on back-to-back singles with none out and a sacrifice fly by Schwindel.
The Dodgers loaded the bases with one out in the seventh inning, but Omaha pitcher Richard Lovelady got Travis Taijeron to strike out and Gale to fly out to end the inning.
In extra innings, Parker Morin's RBI single in the top of the 11th inning put Omaha in front, 4-3.
Mora started the bottom of the inning at second base for the Dodgers via the new extra-inning rules in Minor League Baseball, and advanced to third base on a groundout by Matt Beaty. Mora then came home to score on a wild pitch as Jacob Scavuzzo struck out to tie the game, 4-4.
Omaha reliever Luis Vasquez (1-0) was credited with the win, allowing two unearned runs over the 11th and 12th innings.
Dodgers reliever Joe Broussard (3-1) was charged with the loss.
After a league-wide day off Monday, the Dodgers open a seven-game West Coast road trip at 9:05 p.m. Central time Tuesday against the Sacramento River Cats at Raley Field.
