Omaha Beef's Mascot Night Saturday; Huskers, Broncos And Vikings Mascots To Appear

Omaha, NE - In celebration of Sir Loin's ninth birthday and his being named the 2007 United Indoor Football Mascot of the Year, the Omaha Beef professional indoor football team will hold "Mascot Night" Saturday evening at the Omaha Civic Auditorium during the team's game against the RiverCity Rage. Game time is scheduled for 7 p.m.

The list of mascots scheduled to appear include Herbie Husker from the University of Nebraska, Miles from the Denver Broncos and Viktor the Viking from the Minnesota Vikings. Others will be from area high schools, colleges and universities and also local businesses. At halftime of the game, Sir Loin and his mascot friends will entertain the crowd with by playing a football game. Miles and Viktor, our NFL guests, will be captains for the two teams.

In conjunction, KOZN 1620 AM Radio, ESPN Radio, is currently running a promotion for fans to create an un-official mascot for their station. To enter their contest, log on to www.1620thezone.com and click on the BEEF FOOTBALL VIP button. Four listeners will receive four tickets to Saturday's game. The winner will receive four tickets to the game, t-shirts, dinner for two with the BEEF at their pre-game meal at Texas Roadhouse and will serve as the honorary coach of the night.

Travis Johnson, who works in Game day Operations for the BEEF, said he looks forward to the event.

"It will be exciting to see the mascots interact with the great BEEF fans," Johnson said. "I'm looking forward to seeing our special guests, Herbie Husker, Miles and Viktor the Viking as well as the local mascots."

The first 1,000 kids through the Civic's turnstiles will receive Sir Loin mascot hats. The BEEF are charging off a 34-18 victory last Saturday over the Sioux Falls Storm, ending the Storm's 40-game winning streak. The team hopes to exact some revenge on the Rage, who beat Omaha 10 days ago.

The Omaha Beef opened their 2008 home season versus the Bloomington Extreme on March 15, 2008. All home games will be played at the Omaha Civic Auditorium. The Beef are a member of the United Indoor Football Association, the premier indoor football league in America.
