Ralston, NE - The Omaha Beef Indoor Football Team, America's Longest Running Professional Indoor Football Team, has announced the return of former Nebraska Cornhusker and Omaha Beef defensive star, Cortney Grixby as assistant coach. Grixby, an Omaha native and Central High school standout, played his college career at the University of Nebraska, where he was a three-year starter and recorded 126 total career tackles and four interceptions.
After spending time with the Carolina Panthers, St. Louis Rams of the NFL and Montreal Alouettes of the CFL, Grixby spent six years in the indoor game, as a dominating defensive back for the Omaha Beef and Lincoln Haymakers.
After his playing career, Grixby began his coaching career back with the Beef, where he was defensive coordinator on Cory Ross's staff, through the 2017 season. After a year off, Grixby is ready return to the Omaha coaching staff.
"I'm really excited to be back on board with the Omaha Beef," Grixby said. "There have been some major changes in the last year, with the staff that is in place this season, I believe this is the year Omaha will make a championship run."
Head Coach James Kerwin, who coached Grixby in Omaha, said that this was a big addition to the staff. "The intensity and enthusiasm that Cortney brings to the table along with the abundance of indoor football experience, as both a player and a coach, is a huge win for us. Players are going to be excited to have his input and direction this season."
The Beef also announced that new uniforms will be unveiled, along with the first announcements of player signings, at the Prime Dance Tryouts. The evening along event is on Saturday night, open to the public and begins with a social hour at 6:00 PM at Stocks and Bonds, located at 8528 Park Drive.
