Ralston, NE - The Omaha Beef Indoor Football Team has announced new ownership, as Ricky Bertz and Craig Tirey were introduced as the new owners of the longest running active franchise in indoor football. Bertz is a veteran executive of indoor football and brings a wealth of experience to Omaha, including most recently, directing the Salina Liberty franchise, also a member of Champions Indoor Football with the Omaha Beef. Tirey is a business executive, out of Oklahoma, with experience in minor league hockey and indoor football ownership.
Bertz currently also serves as commissioner of the CIF and was a founding partner of the league, when the Lone Star Football League and the Champions Professional Indoor Football League merged in 2014.
The opportunity to acquire the Omaha Beef franchise was an opportunity Bertz could not turn down. "Being involved in this sport and business for many years, I've appreciated the longevity of this franchise. Operating a team in a market that loves football and appreciates a strong work ethic, I was really excited about the chance to make the move to Omaha."
The Omaha Beef will be marking their 20th season on the field, when they open play in early 2019. Bertz is currently conducting a search for a head coach and expects an announcement soon. "A comprehensive coaching search is already underway, and we have already talked to some great candidates," Bertz said. "We want to make sure that we have the right coach to represent our brand on and off the field. We anticipate having that process wrapped up soon and will be making an announcement soon."
