March 21, 2008 - Continental Indoor Football League (CIFL)
Dayton Silverbacks News Release
Miami Valley Silverbacks quarterback Jim Oliver was named the Continental Indoor Football League Offensive Player of the Week, the league announced this morning.
Oliver had a hand in five touchdowns in the Silverbacks' 56-13 week one win over New Jersey. Oliver finished the night 11 of 18 for 177 yards and four touchdowns without an interception through the air and also scored on the ground, getting to the corner on a 15-yard scoring scamper.
"He had a good week," Silverbacks coach Carl Allen said. "He prepared hard and he prepared well for the game. He knew the game plan and executed it well. "He was a leader on the field and is well deserving of the honor."
The Silverbacks (1-0) return to action tonight when they travel to Fort Wayne to kickoff the Freedom's first season in the CIFL before returning home March 29 against Saginaw. Tickets are still available for the game with the Sting at the Hobart Arena box office.
