
CIFL Names Week Two Players of the Week
March 21, 2008 - Continental Indoor Football League (CIFL) News Release
The Continental Indoor Football League (CIFL) would like to announce the players of the week for the second week of the season. There were only two games in the CIFL last weekend with Kalamazoo winning again in overtime, defeating Rock River 33-26 and the Miami Valley Silverbacks winning big over the New Jersey Revolution 56-13.
Offensive Player of the Week
Jim Oliver (QB) Miami Valley Silverbacks - Oliver was 11-18 for 177 yards and four touchdown passes in the win over the Revolution at Hobart Arena. Oliver also ran for a touchdown, giving him a total of five scores in the game.
Defensive Player of the Week
David Gater (DB) Kalamazoo Xplosion - Gater wrapped up the Defensive Player of the Week award by intercepting Rock River quarterback Steve LaFalce three times, including the game winner in the Xplosion's 33-26 overtime victory over the Raptors at Wings Stadium in Kalamazoo.
Special Teams Player of the Week
Travis Paul (K) Rock River Raptors - In a game that featured the Special Teams Player of the Week from week one, Brad Selent, it was the Raptors kicker, Travis Paul that took home the honors for the second week of the season. Paul was 2-2 on field goals including a 27-yard kick as time expired to send the game into overtime. Paul also added two extra points in the game.
