OL Reign Signs 2023 NWSL Draft Pick Shae Holmes

SEATTLE, WA. - OL Reign today announced that it has signed defender Shae Holmes to a one-year deal, with a one-year option. After trading up for the 19th overall pick (second round) in the 2023 NWSL Draft, OL Reign selected the 23-year-old as its first choice.

"I couldn't be more excited to sign with the Reign and join this deeply talented roster for my first professional season," Holmes said. "I enjoyed playing collegiately in the Pacific Northwest, and I am so happy to continue my career up here."

Holmes appeared in the club's international friendly against Club América on February 25 and later started in the club's second match of the preseason tournament in Portland against Racing Louisville FC.

The left-footed defender started in 32 of 44 games played at the University of Washington and was an integral part of the squad, adding two goals and seven assists.

As a graduate student in 2022, Holmes started all 19 matches and was selected to the All-Pac-12 Second Team after helping the Huskies earn five clean sheets.
