Lubbock Renegades News Release
Lubbock, Texas - Oklahoma City Yard Dawgz quarterback Stan Hill completed a 22-yard pass to Al Hunt as time expired to defeat the Lubbock Renegades 64-61 in front of a crowd of 3,638 Saturday night at City Bank Coliseum. The winning tally capped a 14-point comeback in the final 1:32 to improve the Yard Dawgz record to 4-3 and drop the Renegades record to 2-5.
It was a see-saw battle for most of the night with 16 lead changes for the evening and only three of the combined 22 drives resulted without any points. Lubbock's Robert Kent converted on 20-of-31 pass attempts for 270 yard and seven touchdowns, a season high for the signal caller. Chris Highshaw led the Renegades with seven receptions for 43 yards and a touchdown. Oklahoma City's Stan Hill was 22-of-40 in pass attempts for 342 yards and seven touchdowns. Yard Dawgz's Hunt led his team with eight receptions for 114 yards and two trips to the endzone.
The back-and-forth scoring came to a halt after a defensive stop by the Renegades half-way through the fourth quarter. Lubbock was then able to get their first back-to-back scores of the evening with a three-yard Victor Mann rush for a touchdown. Oklahoma City fought back as Ryan Clift cut the lead to three with a 24 touchdown reception with 1:56 remaining in regulation. A successful on-side kick eventually led to Hunt's game winning touchdown score.
The Renegades (2-5) will remain in the Hub City as they prepare for a Saturday night tilt hosting the Laredo Lobos (0-6) at 7 p.m.
