LAWTON, OKLA.-- Owner/Managing Member Baron Hopgood of the Oklahoma Cavalry and Ricardo Richardson, president and CEO of the Continental Basketball Association, received the honor of lighting the cannon to kick-off the 14th Annual Bill Bentley Memorial Golf Tournament today at Fort Sill Golf Club.
Hopgood and Richardson also participated in the 4-man scramble sponsored by the Military Order of the Purple Heart, Mount Scott Chapter 602. Their team included Dr. Larry Chambers, Richard Pool and Bob Vaughn. The team shot a 58 for the day.
Over 20 teams took part in the tournament. Hopgood said it was a good turnout, and they were fortunate to meet some remarkable people.
"It was an exhilarating and exciting golf tournament," Hopgood said. "It was worth every minute we spent, and we were able to meet some extraordinary, local veterans."
Proceeds from this tournament will help fund college scholarships presented to high school graduates from the three high schools here in Lawton, and will also help assist veterans in
need in the Lawton community.
Final results from the tournament and a list of sponsors will be featured in the Lawton Constitution.
