Energy FC enters the contest coming off a 2-1 win over the Seattle Sounders FC 2 on Saturday, April 18 and remain the only unbeaten team in USL's Western Conference. St. Louis FC fell to the Rochester Rhinos 1-0 on Saturday in St. Louis. This is the first of a home-and-home meeting with St. Louis FC this season and the first of three matches against teams from USL's Eastern Conference.

Energy FC forward Danni König was named to the USL team of the week on Tuesday. The honor is his second this season. He was named the league's player of the week on April 7. König ranks in the top three of seven league statistical categories. He's tied for first in goals per match (1.00) and second in shots per match (4.00), points per match (2.33) and game-winning goals (2). König is third in total shots taken (12), points (7) and goals (3).

Energy FC is currently the western conference's only unbeaten team with a 2-0-1 mark. OKC has seven of a possible eight points in three matches played. Energy FC is tied for third in goals allowed this season with just three allowed through three matches. The team also has the fewest offsides call in the league with just one in its first three contests.

Taft Stadium was constructed in 1934 as a Works Progress Administration (WPA) project and is owned by Oklahoma City Public Schools. The stadium hosted professional football games in 1968 as home of the Oklahoma City Plainsmen of the Continental Football League. Professional soccer's Oklahoma City Slickers also hosted games there in 1982-1983, and (as the Oklahoma City Stampede) in 1984. The current renovation to the facility costs in excess of $12 million.
