Today's Game: The Oklahoma City Dodgers look to enter the PCL All-Star Break with back-to-back wins when they close out their five-game series against the Round Rock Express at 1:05 p.m. at Chickasaw Bricktown Ballpark. Today is a Chaparral Energy Family Sunday, and OERB Player of the Month posters, featuring June winner Edwin RÃ-os, will be available to 500 children ages 12 and under as they exit the ballpark...Cox Communications will televise the game live on YurView on Cox (Channel 1333) beginning five minutes before first pitch.
Last Game: Angelo Mora connected on a two-run single to cap the Dodgers' four-run rally in the eighth inning as they defeated the Express, 6-5, Saturday night at Chickasaw Bricktown Ballpark. The Dodgers trailed 5-2 entering the bottom of the eighth inning. With one out and the bases loaded, Edwin RÃ-os drew a walk to bring home a run and cut the Express lead to two runs. Later in the inning with two outs and the bases loaded again, Travis Taijeron drew a walk to cut Round Rock's advantage to 5-4. Mora followed and lined a two-run single into right field to put the Dodgers in front, 6-5. Dodgers reliever Brian Schlitter then retired the Express in order in the top of the ninth inning to seal the win and earn his 11th save of the season. Round Rock took the game's first lead in the first inning, tallying five singles and scoring three runs. In the fourth inning, Kyle Farmer drilled a two-run home run out to left field to cut Round Rock's lead to 3-2. Round Rock answered in its next at-bat with a two-out RBI double by Carlos Perez to extend Round Rock's lead to 4-2. Perez then belted a solo home run out to left field to lead off the eighth, giving the Express a 5-2 edge. Dodgers reliever Zach Neal (1-0) picked up the win, allowing one run and two hits over 3.0 innings, with one walk and four strikeouts. Round Rock reliever Jeffrey Springs (0-2) was charged with the loss.
Today's Probable Pitcher: Drew Hutchison (2-1) looks for a third straight scoreless start when he takes the mound for OKC today...He pitched six shutout innings in his last start July 3 in New Orleans, holding the Baby Cakes to two hits while allowing two walks with four strikeouts in his second win with OKC. Hutchison retired 16 of the final 18 batters he faced and combined with three relievers on a three-hit shutout...He's had a lot of success since moving into the starting rotation, combining for 10.0 scoreless innings in his first two starts. During that time he's allowed five hits -- all singles -- and only had two runners reach as far as second base...He began the 2018 season with the Philadelphia Phillies and was designated for assignment May 31 before being outrighted to Triple-A Lehigh Valley June 5. He rejected the assignment and became a free agent before subsequently signing with the Dodgers June 12...He made 11 relief appearances for the Phillies this season, going 1-1 with a 4.64 ERA over 21.2 IP and allowing 21 hits and 11 runs with 13 walks and 19 strikeouts...Hutchison has 93 career MLB appearances (74 starts) with Toronto (76 games), Pittsburgh (6 games) and Philadelphia (11 games)...He was originally drafted by Toronto in the 15th round of the 2009 MLB Draft from Lakeland (Fla.) High School...Today marks his first career appearance against the Express.
Against the Express: 2018: 7-4 2017: 9-6 All-time: 121-96 At OKC: 59-51 Round Rock leads the current series, 3-1. The Express opened the series by winning three consecutive games at Chickasaw Bricktown Ballpark for the first time since 2014 when the Express won four games in a row in OKC and won three straight in one series in OKC for the first time since 2011...The teams last met April 17-20 in Round Rock, with the Dodgers winning the road series, 3-1. Their lone loss to the Express came in 10 innings April 18 and the Dodgers won the final two games of the series...The Dodgers swept Round Rock, 3-0, at Chickasaw Bricktown Ballpark April 10-12 to open the home portion of their schedule. The Dodgers outscored the Express, 30-9, and outhit Round Rock, 38-18. The Dodgers batted .358, while holding the Express to a .188 average...The Dodgers won the 2017 head-to-head series, 9-6, and have won three straight season series against Round Rock.
On The Home Front: Saturday night's come-from-behind victory snapped the Dodgers' nine-game home losing streak - tied for the longest home skid since the team moved to Chickasaw Bricktown Ballpark in 1998, set previously June 15-27, 2005...The Dodgers started the season 15-0 at home but are 13-16 since. They have also gone 5-11 over their last 16 home games following a 23-5 start...Over the last 10 home games, the team has batted .262 (87x332) with 38 runs (3.8 per game) after starting the season batting .315 and averaging 6.03 runs per game at home...During the last 10 games, including Saturday, the pitching staff has struggled, posting a 5.38 ERA (52 ER/87.0 IP) and 1.74 WHIP, with 57 runs, 113 hits, 39 walks and 82 strikeouts. Opponents are batting .318 (113x355), including .252 with RISP (31x123). The opponent has tallied at least five runs seven times and at least 10 hits eight times...Over the last five home games, the pitching staff has surrendered 33 runs (31 ER) and 61 hits (61x189), with 25 additional walks (6.20 ERA, 1.91 WHIP).
Comeback Kids: Yesterday was the Dodgers' league-leading sixth win when trailing after seven innings. It was also the eighth time the team has won at home when trailing in the eighth inning or later...The Dodgers trailed by three runs on two occasions last night, resulting in the their sixth comeback win of at least three runs this season (five at home).
Adding Some Flavor: Kyle Garlick went 3-for-4 last night and scored a run, marking his third straight multi-hit outing. So far against Round Rock this series, Garlick is 8-for-12 with two doubles, a homer and three runs scored...Over his last seven games, Garlick is 11-for-25 (.440) with four extra-base hits...In 26 games at home since joining the team, he is slashing .344/.366/.678 with four home runs.
Teach Me How to Dugie: Alex Verdugo did not play yesterday, but he is 11-for-20 over his last five games, with four multi-hit outings. His .350 season batting average is tied with Salt Lake's David Fletcher for tops in the PCL...Verdugo has racked up 27 hits over his last 18 games and leads the team with 23 multi-hit games this season. Verdugo also paces the Dodgers with 79 hits despite playing in just 57 of the team's 82 games...The 22-year-old has hit seven homers this season with the Dodgers. In 2017, Verdugo only hit six homers in 117 games with OKC.
Turning the Corner?: Following a 5-3 win over Las Vegas on June 17, the Dodgers stood a season-best 17 games above .500 with a 41-24 record. Since then, they have proceeded to go 5-14, including 3-11 over the last 14 games. Entering June 18 they were 6.0 games ahead of Colorado Springs but are now 1.5 games out of first place -- the furthest they have been out of first place this season.
Around the Horn: OKC designated hitters this season have combined to bat .331 with 20 extra-base hits and 20 RBI over 39 games...The Dodgers drew three walks during their eighth-inning rally last night. They had drawn four walks during the entire series up to that point (34 innings)...Andrew Toles is 1-for-17 this series following a streak of six straight multi-hit games, during which he was 14-for-24...OKC is 7-11 in day games so far this season (4-4 at home) and has lost nine of the last 12 and six of the last seven under the sun.
