Oklahoma City Comets News Release

OKLAHOMA CITY - For the fifth straight year, the Oklahoma City Dodgers and The Oklahoman will host open auditions to sing the National Anthem at Dodgers games. The Oklahoman/Oklahoma City Dodgers National Anthem Tryouts will be held Saturday, March 21 from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. in the center court at Penn Square Mall.

Winners will perform at Dodgers games throughout the season, with the grand prize winner performing at the 2015 home opener on Thursday, April 9 against the Round Rock Express.

"The response to this event grows each year, and we expect the same this time around," said OKC Dodgers President/General Manager Michael Byrnes . "We've been fortunate to have many talented people perform at Chickasaw Bricktown Ballpark in the past, and we're excited about what this year has in store."

Competition is open to the general public and registration is currently available at okcdodgers.com/anthemtryouts. Only the first 200 people to register online will have a guaranteed audition. Registration slots are usually filled well in advance of the event.

Those who do not register online will have a chance to audition on a standby basis on the day of the event. If the tryouts run ahead of schedule, or if a performer does not show up to their scheduled time, those in the standby line will be chosen to audition. Standby performers are encouraged to arrive early and will be selected on a first-come, first-served basis.

The judging panel will consist of editors and columnists from The Oklahoman, city officials, and community leaders. Winners will be chosen based on voice quality, creative style, and stage presence.
