Tulsa Oilers News Release

TULSA, OK- The Tulsa Oilers of the Central Hockey League have re-signed Forward Dallas Anderson to their 2002-2003 roster, Head Coach Garry Unger announced today.

"Dallas is a major force," said Unger. "It's not too often that you are going to find a guy that can score goals for you and be that guy who racks up the penalty minutes. Dallas is turning into a pretty good player and I look forward to seeing him again this season."

Anderson, 6-6, 222 pounds, showed last season that he could be a goal-scorer, as well as an enforcer. He totaled 30 points on 19 goals and 11 assists and led the CHL with 378 penalty minutes. His 36 major penalties ranked him second in that category, two shy of the league high.

"I always knew that Dallas had pretty good hockey skills," said Unger. "When guys are that big, it doesn't look like they're moving as fast as they are. I would say that Dallas is one of the better skaters we've got. People tend to look past that because of his reputation as a fighter."

Unger says that Anderson improved last season when he received some opportunities because of injuries.

"Dallas got the chance to get in on our power play and gain some confidence last season," said Unger. "He's developed into one of our better two-way players."

The signing of Anderson brings the total number of players signed by the Oilers for the upcoming 2002-2003 season to fourteen. He joins forwards Chris Johnston, Jamie Steer, Aaron Millar, Pat Hallett, Todd Marcellus, Justin Ossachuk, Derek Toninato, Klage Kaebel, and Lyle Steenbergen; goalie Rod Branch; and defensemen Mike Johnson, Jordon Flodell and Kevin Livingston.

The Oilers season begins on Friday, October 18th at Indianapolis against the Ice. The Oilers home opener will be on Saturday, October 25th, when they host Indianapolis at the Tulsa Convention Center.
