Oklahoma City Barons News Release
Oklahoma City - The Edmonton Oilers assigned seven players to the Oklahoma City Barons, Oilers General Manager Craig MacTavish announced today. Included were forwards Andrew Miller and Ryan Martindale; defensemen Martin Marincin, Oscar Klefbom and Brad Hunt, as well as goaltender Tyler Rimmer. Goaltender Richard Bachman was placed on waivers for the purpose of assignment to OKC.
Martindale and Marincin were key components in the Barons run to the Western Conference Finals. Miller played on Yale's national championship team last season and was a teammate of Mark Arcobello. Klefbom (1st round/19th overall in 2011 NHL Draft) is an Oilers draft pick. Hunt and Bachman were signed by the Oilers in the off season. Rimmer was invited to the Oilers camp after playing three full seasons in the Western Hockey League.
Training camp for the Barons opens Sunday with physicals, with the first on ice session on Monday morning at the Cox Convention Center at 10 a.m. Training camp sessions are free and open to the public.
Hockey season begins in Oklahoma City on Friday, September 27 with the NHL Showcase presented by Mercy when the Edmonton Oilers host the Dallas Stars in an NHL Preseason game. Oklahoma City opens their 38-game home schedule with a weekend set of games October 4 and 5. For more information about tickets, call the Barons office at 232-GOAL.
