MONTREAL, QUEBEC - Montreal Canadiens and Hamilton Bulldogs General Manager Marc Bergevin announced today the Canadiens have assigned goaltender Dustin Tokarski to the Bulldogs.
Tokarski, 24, appeared in one pre-season game with Montreal, sharing a shutout with Peter Budaj in a 6-0 Canadiens win over the Carolina Hurricanes on Friday, September 20th. He split the 2012-2013 AHL season between the Hamilton Bulldogs and Syracuse Crunch. In 15 games with Hamilton, the 5'11", 198-pound goalie had a record of 6-8-0 with a 2.22 goals-against average, .927 save percentage and three shutouts. In 33 games with Syracuse, he had a record of 18-8-4 with a 2.46 goals-against average, .900 save percentage and three shutouts. His six shutouts last season were tied for second-most in the AHL. He was acquired by the Canadiens from the Tampa Bay Lightning on February 14, 2013, in exchange for goaltender Cedrick Desjardins.
In 194 career regular season AHL games with the Norfolk Admirals, Syracuse Crunch and Hamilton Bulldogs, the Humboldt, Saskatchewan native has a record of 104-72-11 with a 2.45 goals-against average, .910 save percentage and 17 shutouts. The left-handed-catching goaltender has played in seven career regular season NHL games with Tampa Bay, posting a 1-3-1 record with a 3.54 goals-against average and .871 save percentage. Tokarski was drafted by the Lightning in the fifth round, 122nd overall, in the 2008 NHL Entry Draft.
