O'Hoppe's Homer Not Enough as Somerset Walks It Off

The Reading Fightin Phils fell 6-3 to the Somerset Patriots on a hot Saturday night. Logan O'Hoppe's three-run homer was not enough as Somerset walked it off with a blast of their own in the bottom of the ninth.

A pitcher's duel for six innings took the game into the the seventh scoreless.

Reading struck first. Wendell Rijo doubled to the left field corner and Jhailyn Ortiz singled to put runners on the corners. A three-run blast from O'Hoppe gave the Fightins a 3-0 lead. It was the #3 prospect's fifteenth of the season.

Mickey Gasper led off the bottom of the eighth with a solo shot to right. Max Burt singled to reach and Anthony Volpe brought him home with a blast of his own tying it up three apiece.

Somerset started the bottom of the ninth with a single from Austin Wells and a walk from Elijah Dunham. Jesus Bastidas walked off the game with his three-run bomb out of the park.

Griff McGarry pitched a quality start in his second Double-A outing. The righty threw six innings of shutout ball, allowing just two hits and a walk.

Erik Miller had a clean frame, facing the minimum.

Braden Zarbnisky let up three runs on two homers to tie the game up in the eighth.

Brian Marconi allowed a three-run homer in the bottom of the ninth.
