
O'Hoppe Slam Not Enough in Battle at Hartford

The Reading Fightin Phils battled hard but fell to the Hartford Yard Goats 7-5 on Saturday night. Vito Friscia had a solo homer while Logan O'Hoppe had his first career grand slam in the contest.
Ali Castillo and Friscia both had a three-hit night. Sal Gozzo had two hits to his name.
Reading got on the board first with Friscia's homer to the upper deck in right.
Hartford's Michael Toglia took the lead with his two-run homer in the fourth.
The Yard Goats plated three more in the next frame to make it 5-1. Niko Decolati reached on a triple and came home on Hunter Stovall's single in the sixth for their sixth run of the game.
The R-Phils got within one in the top of the seventh. Castillo singled and Aldrem Corredor walked. Jhailyn Ortiz had a base knock to load the bases. O'Hoppe blasted a grand slam to deep left on the first pitch he saw.
But a solo homer from Aaron Schunk put Hartford up for good, 7-5, although Reading threatened in the ninth.
Manager Shawn Williams was ejected arguing the triple call which bounced from Chris Sharpe's glove against the wall and into throwing hand. Josh Ockimey was also ejected following a called strike that ended the game.
Ethan Lindow threw 4.1 innings. He was solid threw three, picking off a batter to catch him stealing. The southpaw's line ended up being five runs on four hits with six strikeouts.
Bubby Rossman came in with two on and one out in the fifth. He allowed the runs to score but they tracked back to Lindow. He let up just one run on three hits.
Julian Garcia threw two frames with just a solo shot going on the board.
