Oh No-No: Canadians Held Hitless in Eugene
April 18, 2024 - Northwest League (NWL)
Vancouver Canadians News Release
EUGENE, OR - The Canadians fell victim to the first no-hitter in Minor League Baseball this year as a trio of Eugene Emeralds [Giants] baffled their bats Wednesday night at PK Park in a 5-0 loss.
Dylan Cumming, Nick Sinacola (W, 2-0) and Seth Corry (S, 1) combined to keep Vancouver off-balance at the plate from the first pitch to the final out. They logged a combined 12 strikeouts, walked five and plunked one. The Canadians managed to put two runners on base just once and never had a man reach third.
Eugene's arms weren't the only ones putting up zeroes. Grayson Thurman, Johnathan Lavallee and Naswell Paulino each logged scoreless relief outings while Lavallee and Paulino did not surrender any hits.
MLB.com's #10 Blue Jays prospect Kendry Rojas will look to lead the bounce back effort Thursday night in game two of the series. He'll be opposed by southpaw Jack Choate. First pitch is set for 7:05 p.m. Listen to the game live on Sportsnet 650's alternate stream.
The Canadians are back at The Nat April 23-28 to take on Spokane [Rockies]. Tickets for those games and the rest of the season are available now at CanadiansBaseball.com.
