Lafayette, LA- The Louisiana IceGators are excited to announce the re-signing of forward Chris Wilson. The Prince Albert, Saskatchewan native will be returning for his third season with the IceGators and his fifth in the Southern Professional Hockey League.
"Wilson returning for another season was a priority for me," stated Head Coach Drew Omiciloi. "I feel he has the ability to be a point a game guy and someone I use in all situations during a game."
Wilson (5'9", 170), a proven offensive force, has played in 109 regular season games for the IceGators scoring 39 goals, recording 59 assists for a total of 98 points. During both seasons (2013-2014 & 2014-2015) with the Gators he has finished top three in points for the regular season and top two in points for the post season.
Prior to joining the Gators, Chris played the 2010-2011 and 2011-2012 seasons with the Pensacola Ice Flyers before taking the 2012-2013 season off. While with the Ice Flyers he would lead their team in points for both the regular season and playoffs. In 103 regular season games he posted 126 points.
"His offensive production along with his ability to take over a game makes him a top SPHL player," Omicioli added. "Chris showed in the playoffs this past season how dominant he can be and I look forward to seeing him carry that play over into this upcoming season."
The IceGators will begin their 2015-2016 season on the road against the Mississippi Riverkings on October 23rd. They will return to the Cajundome for their home opener on November 5th. Season tickets are on sale now for the 15-16 season. Individual tickets will go on sale in September.
