Amarillo Bulls News Release
Odessa, TX - A relentless, offensive night led the way as the Amarillo Bulls shutout the Odessa Jackalopes 4-0 on Friday night.
Amarillo jumped out of the gate with an aggressive start, firing shot after shot in the early goings of the period. The Bulls would find the breakthrough at the 8:03 mark, when Matt Allen split a pair of defenders and slid the puck to Jordan Venegoni who wristed home his 23rd goal of the season for the 1-0 lead.
The Bulls extended their lead in the early moments of the second period when Niclas Puikkonen lifted a deflected pass into the back of the net. Shortly after, Amarillo made the score 3-0 as David Hill sniped his fourth goal of the season on a two-on-one feed from Ryan Tucker.
Hill would tally his second of the game, Amarillo's final goal of the game, in the third period, after fighting off a backcheck and sliding the puck into the back of the net.
Max Gutjahr would stop 11 of 11 shots he faced, earning his second shutout and 15th victory of the season.
With the win, the Bulls are now 30-7-1-2 with 63 points and maintain the second spot in South Division standings.
The Bulls will remain on the road on Saturday, January25, to take on the Odessa Jackalopes. Mark Shelley will broadcast the game from the Spicy Mike's Bar-B-Q Broadcast Booth, and the action will begin at 7:15PM CST on 107.1 Nash Icon and Hockey TV.
