Harrisburg Heat News Release

Harrisburg, PA - Ato Leone and Marco Coria both scored six points and Doug Petras (2-2) made 14 saves in net as the Harrisburg Heat roared to an 18-14 win over the Dallas Sidekicks before a home opener crowd of 4,116 at the Farm Show Arena on Saturday night. With the win, Harrisburg moves to 3-2 on the year; Dallas falls to 2-5. Sagu (11 saves) takes the loss in net for Dallas.

The teams swapped goals early on, with David Bascome (6:24 of the first) and Horacio Robledo (14:48) trading 2pgs with Dallas' Antonio Sutton (12:40) and Tatu (59 seconds into the second). Harrisburg assumed a 7-4 lead when Ato Leone took a long feed from Petras and lofted a 3pg over a charging Sagu at 7:28. Genoni Martinez followed with a two-point power play goal from the left wing at 14:40 of the second, and Harrisburg led 9-4 at the half.

That lead became 11-4 at 8:10 of the third, when Marco Coria scored his first goal of the night. Then the Dallas comeback began: David Doyle (a 3pg at 11:04) and Antonio Sutton (14:47) sandwiched goals around another score from Leone (12:58) to make it 13-9. Former Heater Danny Barber trimmed that deficit to 13-11 with a 3pg 40 seconds into the fourth. In response, Harrisburg's David Barbosa slotted a 2pg (the eventual game-winner) past Sagu from the left corner at 5:09 to make it 15-11. The visitors were not finished, as another former Heater, Leo Pernia, scored a sixth-attacker 3pg at 11:08 to bring Dallas within one at 15-14. Coria completed his big night at 14:09 when he took control of a ball blocked by Martin Hernandez and calmly moved downfield before sliding a 3pg into an empty net at 14:09 to produce the final 18-14 score.
