Odessa Still #1 On Yellowbook CHL Coaches Poll
Published on December 17, 2009 under Central Hockey League (CHL) News Release
(Tempe, Arizona) - The gap in the Yellowbook CHL Coaches Poll has narrowed but the end result is the same as the Odessa Jackalopes have been voted the #1 team for the fourth straight poll. Both the Colorado Eagles and the Allen Americans have closed in somewhat on the Jacks with the Eagles moving from #3 to #2 and narrowing the margin between themselves and Odessa by 16 points. Odessa is 18-4-3 and has a four point lead over Allen in the Southern Conference and a four point lead in the overall standings over the Eagles.

The Jacks received eight of the possible first place votes with Colorado earning four first place votes and Allen three first place votes. The biggest move in the current poll comes from the defending Ray Miron President's Cup Champion Texas Brahmas who moved from #9 to #5. The Bossier-Shreveport Mudbugs are the only other team to move up multiple spots jumping from #10 to #7. The biggest drop belongs to the Tulsa Oilers who are in the midst of a seven-game losing streak resulting in a demotion from #4 to #9.
The poll is yet again a dead even split between the two conferences with both contributing five teams to the ranking. The Southern Conference owns four of the top six spots while the Northern Conference owns three of the bottom four.
The CHL Top 10 Coaches Poll will be released on or near the beginning and middle of each month through the regular season. Each first place vote receives ten points, second place votes earn nine points, etc.
