Ocean Too Much for the Wings, Wallace Seals the Deal in the Shootout

AUSTIN, MN - For the fourth time this season, a shootout would be needed for the Bruins as they go the distance with Aberdeen and take home a 2-1 victory.

It was a battle of goalies inside Riverside Arena Friday night, as Ethan Robertson for the Bruins and Cole Moore for Aberdeen would stand tall to provide forty minutes of shutout hockey. We wouldn't see the first goal of the game until fifty-two minutes and twenty-second into the contest as Aberdeen would get on the board first in the third period as Jaxson Grosdidier would find a rebound in front of Robertson off the initial shot from Barron Stibbe to beat the sprawling net-minder. Newcomer for the Bruins, Elliott Lareau would make an immediate impact for his new club, as the St. Laurent, Quebec native snuck a puck through the five-hole of Moore to tie the game up at 1-1. This would be Lareau's first as a Bruin and his second goal of the season.

Sixty minutes of hockey would not be enough, as the Bruins and Wings would find themselves in a 3-on-3, five-minute overtime. Both teams would have multiple chances to end the game, but both goalies would keep the game tied after the overtime frame to force a shootout. This would be the fourth shootout of the season for Austin and the second straight for Aberdeen, who fell in a shootout last Saturday night to the North Iowa Bulls. The Wings would take the early lead in the shootout with two straight goals from Landry Schmuck and leading rookie Nikolai Tishkevich. With their backs against the wall, Gavin Morrissey would get one past Moore to extend the shootout. From there Robertson would stop four straight for the Bruins and Josh Giuliani would score to extend the night. In the sixth round of the shootout, Bolder, Colorado native Ocean Wallace would get a backhanded shot past Moore to seal the deal on a 2-1 victory for the Bruins. Ethan Robertson would stop 26 of the 27 shots he would face on the night to pick up his 5th win of the year.

Tomorrow night the Bruins look to complete the weekend sweep of the Wings as the two meet again tomorrow night inside Riverside Arena. Puck Drop is set for 7:05pm CST.
