OC Play Host Los Dos in Tight Playoff Race
September 1, 2020 - United Soccer League Championship (USL)
Orange County SC News Release
IRVINE, Calif. - OC will play host to LA Galaxy II for the first of two consecutive matches against the Carson-based side. It will be a crucial match for all teams in Group B, as all teams are in pursuit of the playoff places.
Los Dos played on Sunday, winning 4-3 over Las Vegas. LA Galaxy II leapfrogged OC and now sit in second place on 15 points with five wins. Orange County fought to a goalless draw in a physical match on Saturday night. OC also have 15 points, from four wins and three draws, and now sit in third place.
Los Dos have now won three of their last five, all by one-goal margins. Sunday's victory was just the third multi-goal game for the side in 2020.
The last match between the two sides was a 2-1 victory for OC on August 22.
OC limited their last opponents to just four shots, none of which were on target. Orange County will look to Ugo Okoli, Aodhan Quinn and Brian Iloski at the other end of the field. Iloski, a former Los Dos forward, currently leads Orange County in shots on goal.
After injuries struck a number of Orange County players a few weeks ago, a number of Orange County players are expected to return to fitness in the coming days. Darwin Jones and Kevin Coleman returned at the weekend after picking up minor injuries earlier in the season.
Harry Forrester is unavailable for selection.
The match kicks off at 7 p.m. Pacific at Championship Stadium at the Orange County Great Park. The game will be broadcast live on COX YurView in Orange County, and ESPN+ elsewhere in the United States. The game is also available internationally on the USL Championship YouTube channel.
