Orange County Flyers News Release

Hey Flyers Fans:

This past week, or so, has been outstanding for the Flyers...

Reed Dickert was named the GBL Pitcher of the Week. The Orange County Flyers right-handed starting pitcher, was selected based on his two dominating starts during the week. In twelve innings pitched, Dickert struck out 21 while walking only six as he went 1-0 with a 0.71 E.R.A during the week. The hard-throwing 22 year old, out of Oklahoma City University, joined the Flyers late last season and was spectacular in 11 relief appearances, as he went 1-0 with a 1.40 E.R.A while striking out 20 in 19 innings. This season he has moved to the starting rotation and has been just as impressive.

After starting the season 0 and 3 in Yuma, and 1 and 4 on the initial road trip, the Flyers have won 5 straight, 9 of 10, and 12 of 15, and are now sitting alone in first place in the GBL, ½ a game ahead of the Chico Outlaws. The Flyers travel to Chico for four games this Thursday. OC swept a brief two game series from Chico last week here in Fullerton. It is our first trip north this season.

Rookie right fielder Aaron Davis (.417 batting average going into Monday night's game) is leading the league in batting average and on base percentage. He is the only player in the league hitting over .400.

4 Flyers are in the top 10 in hitting, with Bret Levier, Mark Okano, and Rich Pohle joining Davis.

Dickert (strikeouts), Alex McRobbie (ERA), Robert Salini (wins), and Dave Coggin (saves) are among the league leaders in pitching, and are key reasons for the success of the Flyers.
