Flyers in first after 9-4 win

June 26, 2007 - Golden Baseball League (GBL)
Orange County Flyers News Release

The Orange County Flyers raced out to a 7-0 lead and held on to win 9-4 against the Long Beach Armada at Blair Field Monday night.

The Flyers got another quality start from Jamie Douglas and took advantage of some shaky Long Beach defense to win their 5th straight game and move into sole possession of first place.

Dave Bacani stimulated the offense from the top of the lineup by scoring twice and driving in a run.

Aaron Davis and Bacani set the table for a three-run rally in the 3rd inning to push the Flyers up 4-0. Bret Levier came up with a bases loaded single to drive in two runs in the frame.

Davis led off the next inning with a triple and was driven home by Bacani.

The Flyers and Douglas cruised through the middle innings, but the Armada made a late rally. RP Nick Casanova gave up a homerun to Chris Wakeland to cut the lead to 7-4 in the 8th inning.

Gary Gallegos got the final five outs for the Flyers, including striking out four, to earn his first save of the season.

The Flyers and Armada will meet again Tuesday at 7:05 p.m. and all the action can be heard at KWRM 1370 AM and orangecountyflyers.com.
