IRVINE, CA (July 13, 2014)- Orange County Blues FC has officially signed midfielder Jacob Barron.
Jacob Barron, 23, made his professional debut with the Blues against Sacramento Republic FC this past July 7th at Bonney Field.
Barron, is a Southern California native from La Mirada, a city that sits on the eastern border of Los Angeles County. He's the youngest of four children to parents Jeanne and Louis Barron, with three older sisters. He graduated from La Habra High School, which actually sits on the other side of the border in Orange County. He scored six goals and added eight assists to help the Highlanders to a 24-3-2 record and the Southern Section Division III title.
After La Habra HS, Barron spent his first two years at UC Davis (2009-2010), where he appeared in 37 games, starting 29, in his two seasons and registered one assist. Barron then transferred to Penn State University for his final two years (2011-2012). There he started all 22 games in his first season, picking up a goal and an assist.
"I look forward to winning games and going far in the playoffs", said Barron, who started the next game after his professional debut, at home versus Arizona United SC on July 12th.
"Jacob is versatile in that he can play multiple positions, so we're excited to sign him. He will be an enforcer in the midfield and also does well in linking the play from the midfield forward." adds General Manager Jon Spencer.
