Orlando City SC News Release
Orlando, Fla. - Orlando City SC (14-0-3, 45 points) travels to the west coast for the final time as members of USL PRO when they take on expansion club Sacramento Republic FC (10-6-2, 32 points) on Thursday, July 17.
The match will be live-streamed via YouTube.com/SacRepublicFC. Kick-off is scheduled for 10:30 p.m. EST at Bonney Field.
After securing a comfortable 2-0 win over the Wilmington Hammerheads at home on Saturday evening, the Lions managed to extend its remarkable streak of unbeaten matches to 17. In addition, the victory marked Orlando's eighth consecutive win, which is also a Club record.
Sitting in first place, OCSC has yet to lose an USL PRO match this season, continuing its impressive 2014 campaign.
Midfielder Kevin Molino maintained his excellent run of form since the early goings of the 2014 season when he linked up with Dennis Chin for the first goal against Wilmington. Molino's assist was his seventh in 2014, tying the Club's single-season record for assists.
Chin's goal also proved to be an encouraging moment for Orlando City, as it marked the Oviedo native's first goal since notching a brace against OKC Energy FC on May 4. With Corey Hertzog currently sidelined due to injury, Chin and new signing Giuseppe Gentile will be relied upon heavily for the Lions' upcoming fixtures.
On the other hand, Sacramento is coming off an east-coast road trip this past weekend which saw them produce split results. After falling to Richmond 2-1 in a tight contest, Sacramento Republic bounced back two days later to take down Charlotte 1-0.
However, Sacramento are a much different side at home where they boast an exhilarating fan base. Selling out six of its seven home matches this year, Sacramento has created a fortress at Bonney Field and Hughes Stadium, producing an impressive 5-1-1 record.
Thursday's fixture will be no different as Sacramento aims to make a push for the USL PRO Regular Season Championship. Sitting in third place, 13 points behind Orlando City, Sacramento needs to collect three points in the majority of their remaining matches to gain ground on the league-leaders.
