OC Blues FC Begins Playoffs against LA Galaxy II

IRVINE, Calif. (October 2, 2015) - USL Western Conference regular season champions Orange County Blues FC (14-9-5) begin their playoff quest against league rival LA Galaxy II (15-11-3) on Saturday night at StubHub Center. The Western Conference Semifinal match will kick off at 7:30 p.m. PT.

After going undefeated in their last five regular season matches, the Blues finished in first place in the Western Conference with 47 points. Their last regular season match ended in a scoreless draw against defending USL champion Sacramento Republic FC, clinching the No. 1 seed for OC and earning them a first-round playoff bye.

Galaxy II began the playoffs last Saturday with a 1-0 victory over Sacramento Republic FC. Bryan Olivera gave LA the lead in the 13th minute after scoring on a penalty kick. While Republic FC mounted pressure on the LA defense, goalkeeper Clement Diop's clutch saves allowed Los Dos to hold on for the win.

Saturday's contest will be the fifth match between the two clubs. The most recent duel finished in exciting fashion as Orange County's Christofer Ramirez scored the game-winning goal in the 90th minute, recording OC's first-ever victory over Galaxy II.

With fresh legs and momentum in their favor, the Blues will look to defeat Los Dos for the second time in club history, and their first postseason win in club history. The winner of Saturday's match will face either second-seeded OKC Energy FC or third-seeded Colorado Springs Switchbacks FC in the Western Conference Final.
