
O'Boyle named PR director

BEAVERCREEK - The Dayton Warbirds football team announced today that it has hired Kevin O'Boyle to be the team's Public Relations Director.
O'Boyle comes to the Miami Valley entry in the National indoor Football League (NIFL) with vast experience in professional journalism in the Miami Valley.
"We are very pleased to make this announcement as we feel that Kevin will be a tremendous asset to our franchise," said Warbirds' General Manager Jorge Ruiz. "His knowledge of the Miami Valley, and writing experience will be invaluable as we embark on our second season of exciting football action."
With over 15 years of experience as both an editor and writer for various Miami Valley newspapers, O'Boyle also brings over 10 years experience as a sports broadcaster to the Warbirds' family.
"I am very excited about this new venture, and I can't wait to get started bringing the exciting message that the Warbirds' have to football fans here in the Miami Valley," O'Boyle said.
A native of Binghamton, N.Y., O'Boyle has been a resident of Ohio since 1987. He currently resides in Butler Township.
From January of 1988 until May of 1989 he was the Sports Editor of the Urbana Daily Citizen, and O'Boyle served as Editor for three Brown Publishing Co. newspapers in the northern Miami Valley. From January of 1990 until November of 1990 he was Editor of the Enon Messenger and then became Editor of the Englewood Independent until August of 1992. From June of 1995 until June of 2002 he was Editor of the Vandalia Drummer News.
O'Boyle was a radio and television broadcaster for the Dayton Bombers hockey team for six seasons, and has also broadcast high school and collegiate sporting events including University of Dayton and Wright State basketball and Bowling Green State University football.
"To get someone of his caliber helping us out as we step-up our efforts to bring Miami Valley fans the best in football entertainment, is tremendous," Ruiz said. "We feel that we now have the strongest sales, marketing and public relations staff in Miami Valley professional sports."
O'Boyle attended the University of Scranton, majoring in Communications, and while in college broadcast the 1983 NCAA Division III national championship basketball contest.
The Dayton Warbirds will once again play their home contests in the 9,500-seat Ervin J. Nutter Center at Wright State University.
