Published on November 2, 2009 under Central Hockey League (CHL) News Release

(Tempe, Arizona) - The Central Hockey League announced today that the recipients for the Oakley CHL Player and Goaltender of the Week for the period ending November 1st, 2009 are forward Rob Hisey of the Tulsa Oilers and goaltender Doug Groenestege of the Missouri Mavericks.

Hisey had a hand in all five of the Oilers' goals in their 5-4 victory over Rapid City on Tuesday and then followed that up with a two-goal performance in his team's 5-4 loss this past Halloween against Mississippi. For the week, the Oakville, Ontario native totaled three goals with four assists and had a +1 plus/minus rating. In all, Hisey took part in seven of the nine goals scored this week by the Oilers. His performances this week helped keep Tulsa in a solid 3rd place in the Northern Conference and his 12 points (7-5=12) are tied for second most in the league.

Groenestege wins the weekly award after going 2-0 on the week with the Mavericks first two franchise wins, both versus Wichita. The Stratford, Ontario native allowed only one goal on the week stopping 46 of 47 shots (.979). Groenestege took home his first shut out of the season stopping all 21 shots on a Halloween win against Wichita. Last season as a member of the Oklahoma City Blazers, Groenestege took home two goaltender of the week honors and one goaltender of the month award.

In recognition of their achievements, both Hisey and Groenestege will receive a special gift from Oakley.
