Nytex Keeping Games 'Cool' On The Ice

NORTH RICHLAND HILLS, Texas (February 25)-The 2010 Winter Olympics are coming to an end, but the games are still alive in North Richland Hills as the ice at the NYTEX Sports Centre remains busy with activities that have been showcased on the world stage.

All attention has been focused on the very popular ice hockey matchups the last two weeks with superstar athletes highlighting the games; and despite the language barriers, the teams have the commonality of the players competing at a young age. The NYTEX Sports Centre offers a special Mini-Mites program to get future hockey Olympians started with the newest 10-week session picking up on March 21st andconcluding May 30th. The Mini-Mite program meets on Sundays at the NYTEX Sports Centre and is only $199 per player.

Amateur hockey programs are also available with the Junior Brahmas travel teams and house teams. Athletes can participate with Mites-Midget teams (ages 6-17) sanctioned by USA Hockey. The hockey season in currently coming to an end, but only in time for the Junior Brahmas Spring Camp set to open June 1st. The camp will help develop current and potential Junior Brahmas players of all levels and have special instruction from the Texas Brahmas coaching staff and players. During the season, all Junior Brahmas teams work alongside professionals, the Texas Brahmas of the Central Hockey League (CHL), who also call the NYTEX Sports Centre home.

"The Junior Brahmas program is one of a kind in this area as the kids get hands on instruction from the Brahmas. This asset is incomparable when comparing local programs with it. On top of that, each of our guys enjoys working with the amateur hockey program NYTEX offers," said Texas Brahmas Head Coach Dan Wildfong.

The Texas Brahmas, the 2009 CHL Champions, are closing in on their regular season schedule just in time for another march into the playoffs. The Brahmas are a professional hockey team associated with the CHL, a league that is currently comprised of 15 teams ranging from Arizona to Mississippi. The season begins in October and runs into the end of March. As a main attraction in Tarrant County, tickets to catch Brahmas hockey is a hot item so fans are encouraged to purchase tickets early to ensure a seat to the upcoming action.

As team USA wins gold in figure skating, the desire to emulate the skaters will grow in demand, which is no problem for the NYTEX Sports Centre. The NYTEX Skating Academy (NSA) has recently had the highest registration numbers for its 10 week classes. For $125 the NSA and its special group of instructors teach students from toddlers to adults to ice skate.

Before the curtains close on the Olympic games in Vancouver, ZuRoma Bar and Grill, located inside the NYTEX Sports Centre, is offering Winter Olympic watching specials this weekend. ZuRoma will host two watching parties this weekend for the Olympic Hockey Medal rounds. Sunday's Gold Medal game is scheduled for a 2:15 PM start, two hours before the Brahmas drop the puck against the Missouri Mavericks (4:05 PM). All Olympic fans who bring their favorite country's flag or any other patriotic display will be offered free pepperoni chips . Also available during the parties will be Happy Hour pricing all day inside the restaurant with the winning countries fans receiving a special gift. The Bronze Medal round , played on Saturday at 9:00 PM, will also have specials at ZuRoma Bar and Grill. The Brahmas will also be showing the Gold Medal game on various televisions throughout the facility in addition to the ZuRoma watching party on Sunday.
