
NYRB II to Host Detroit City FC in 2022 Home Finale

HARRISON, N.J. - New York Red Bulls II (3-22-5, 14 points) will host Detroit City FC (13-6-10, 49 points) on Wednesday, September 21, at MSU Soccer Park. Kickoff is scheduled for 7:00 p.m. ET with coverage on ESPN+.
The match will mark the second meeting of the season between the two sides, with Detroit taking the first 2-0 on April 30 at Keyworth Stadium. It will also be the home finale of the season for Red Bulls II, as the club will play the final three matches of its season on the road during the month of October.
New York will look to bounce back after falling 1-0 to Oakland Roots SC on Saturday, September 17, at Laney College Football Stadium. Curtis Ofori made his return from injury, playing the second half in his 23rd appearance of the season.
Detroit is coming off a 1-0 victory against the Tampa Bay Rowdies on Saturday, September 17, at Keyworth Stadium. Antoine Hoppenot scored the lone goal of the match in the 81st minute. They have earned a result in three of their last four matches and have clinched a postseason berth in their first USL Championship season.
Red Bulls II goalkeeper Giannis Nikopolidis has recorded seven-plus saves in three matches this season, one of ten goalkeepers in USL Championship to reach that mark. Nikopolidis leads the team in goalkeeper starts, minutes, and saves in his first professional season.
New York sits 14th in the Eastern Conference while Detroit ranks 6th.
Following the match, New York will travel to face Phoenix Rising FC on Saturday, October 1. Kickoff at Wild Horse Pass is slated for 10:30 p.m. ET with coverage available on ESPN+.
