Red Bull New York II News Release
CINCINNATI, OHIO - New York Red Bulls II defeated FC Cincinnati on the road, 2-1, in the USL Game of the Week. Justin Bilyeu and Florian Valot scored three minutes apart in the closing minutes to give New York the victory.
The win improves NYRB II to 12-1-5 on the season. New York currently stands in second place of the Eastern Conference, just one point behind Louisville City FC with one game in hand. Red Bulls II has now equaled its total wins from the 2015 season, when they finished 12-10-6.
Red Bulls II extended its undefeated streak to 12 games, and is 9-0-3 on its current run. They also remained unbeaten on the road, improving to 8-0-1 away from home. The club has not lost a game since May 1 against Charlotte Independence at Red Bull Arena.
Cincinnati took the lead in the 60th minute, thanks to a Jimmy McLaughlin right-footed strike past Kyle Reynish.
Red Bulls II poured on the pressure late in the match and was rewarded with a dangerous free kick just outside the box after Vincent Bezecourt was fouled. Bilyeu hit a low-driven shot into the bottom corner to level the match in the 83rd minute. The goal was the first of his professional career.
Just three minutes later, Red Bulls II found the game-winning goal. Derrick Etienne Jr. found some space on the left side and whipped in a dangerous cross, which was headed in by second-half substitute Valot and sealed the deal for New York in the 86th minute. The game-winner was the Frenchman's first professional goal and issued FC Cincinnati its first home loss of the season.
Red Bulls II returns home this Saturday, July 23, against the Charleston Battery. Kickoff is set for 4 p.m.
