Nuts Offer Ways to Save in 2009

March 23, 2009 - California League (CalL1)
Modesto Nuts News Release

In a time of nationwide financial crisis and hardship, the Modesto Nuts are proud to continue to offer the Modesto community the most affordable entertainment value in Stanislaus County for the upcoming 2009 season. Costs are up all over the country, but at John Thurman Field the price of a ticket in 2009 is exactly the same as it was in 2008. For as little as $40 a family of four can head to the ballpark and enjoy 3-4 hours of entertainment at a Modesto Nuts baseball game, as well as a traditional ballpark meal!

The Nuts have made several improvements to their ballpark during the off-season in order to continue to provide an optimum entertainment venue for the community with the addition of party decks on either side the press box, and an improved East picnic area. The Nuts have also made an effort to provide even more affordable food and beverage options with the addition of All-You-Can-Eat Wednesdays at John Thurman Field (details below). In addition, the Nuts have taken steps to improve the "fun factor" at their games, as they have planned several new promotions and theme nights throughout the season, as well as 17 fireworks nights!

With more affordable options than ever before, an improved stadium and a focus on family fun, the Modesto Nuts are excited to host their fans throughout the upcoming season!

Mini Plans

Modesto Nuts mini-plans are the only way to reserve the best seats for the most popular games of the 2009 season. Mini-plans start as low as $65 for the best eight (8) games of the season, including Opening Night and the annual Independence Day Celebration. As an added bonus, you will receive a complimentary Modesto Nuts replica jersey for every mini-plan you purchase. Purchase four (4) mini-plans for your family, and receive four (4) jerseys! Reserve your seats today by calling Zach Brockman at (209) 343-8719 or email Zach at zach@modestonuts.com.

All-You-Can-Eat Wednesday

In an effort to maintain its status as the most affordable entertainment value in Stanislaus County, the Modesto Nuts are proud to introduce All-You-Can-Eat Wednesday's at John Thurman Field in 2009! For $10 fans will receive a general admission ticket to the game, and an all-you-can-eat buffet-style meal in the west picnic area, which will include hot dogs, mini-hamburgers, nachos, popcorn, coleslaw and soft drinks. The all-you-can-eat buffet will begin when the gates open prior to each Wednesday night ballgame, and will remain open for 90-minutes.

Iannetta and Jimenez Among Rockies in World Baseball Classic

The Colorado Rockies provided a solid presence in the 2009 World Baseball Classic, as five players from the club were named to WBC rosters for five different countries. Four of the five Rockies WBC participants are former Modesto Nuts, including Adam Bright (Australia), Manny Corpas (Panama), Ubaldo Jimenez (Dominican Republic) and Chris Iannetta (United States). Australia, Panama and the Dominican Republic were eliminated in the first round of the WBC, sending Bright, Corpas and Jimenez back to spring training camp in Tucson, Ariz.

Although his time as a WBC competitor was short, Jimenez used the opportunity to pitch four scoreless innings in his only outing of the Classic, in which he struck out 10 to set a WBC record, and walked no one as the Dominican Republic faced the Netherlands in first round action.

Iannetta and Team USA advanced to the semi-finals in Los Angeles before being eliminated by Japan in a 9-4 loss on Sunday, March 22. Iannetta has been heralded as an "unsung hero" for Team USA, and posted solid numbers during the Classic, including a .462 batting average and a .588 on base percentage in 13 at bats over four games.
