 Waterloo Black Hawks

Notre Dame Next for Kerr

Waterloo Black Hawks News Release

Waterloo, Iowa - Defenseman Jaedon Kerr joined the growing group of Waterloo Black Hawks players with a Division I NCAA college commitment; the Hoosier State native will skate in South Bend for the University of Notre Dame.

Twenty-one Hawks have selected their future schools. Kerr's decision comes in close proximity to goaltender Jack Spicer's commitment to Nebraska-Omaha earlier this week.

"Jaedon's size stands out to anyone who sees him on the ice. Coming to Waterloo, he has been learning how to use that size at a higher level and against strong competition," said Black Hawks Head Coach Matt Smaby. "Jaedon has been an every-game guy for us, and he has been very open to the things we are asking of him in our system."

Kerr and Ben Robertson are the only defensemen who have been in the lineup for all 35 Waterloo games this winter. The 6-foot, 4-inch Kerr has a +6 plus/minus differential and seven points (one goal, six assists). His first USHL goal came on the road against the Tri-City Storm January 8th. With an assist that afternoon, it was also Kerr's first multipoint performance in the USHL.

Kerr is the only current Black Hawk committed to play for the Fighting Irish. However, Waterloo is well-represented on the current Notre Dame roster. Senior forward Solag Bakich, junior forward Ryder Rolston, and freshman goaltender Jack Williams each have a locker at Compton Family Ice Arena. The Black Hawks have had at least one former player among the Fighting Irish each winter since 2005/06.

Kerr and his Waterloo teammates host the Fargo Force this Friday and Saturday. It is a "Weekend with the Black Hawks, presented by John Deere." The Hawks will take the ice in John Deere colors each night, with the team's jerseys auctioned after Saturday's game to benefit the Northeast Iowa Food Bank.
