Northwoods League Announces 20th Season Schedule

Eau Claire, Wis. - The Northwoods League today announced the release of the 2013 schedule. The Eau Claire Express will begin their ninth season of Northwoods League play on Wednesday, May 29 in Madison versus the Mallards. Eau Claire will spend the first four games of the season on the road in Madison and Battle Creek before the home season opens on Sunday, June 2 versus the Wisconsin Woodchucks. First pitch of the home opener is scheduled for 5:05 PM.

The league again will feature a 70-game regular season schedule. Returning in 2013 for the first time since 2009 is a selection of games played against the North Division. Each team will play one home and away series with two teams from the opposite division, with eight games total played versus the North Division. Regular season play begins Wednesday, May 28 and concludes on Sunday, August 11. Divisional playoffs begin the following day and run through Wednesday, August 14 and will match each division's first and second half winners in a best-of-three format. Winners of those series will begin play for the Northwoods League Championship on Thursday, August 15. That best-of-three series will conclude on Saturday, August 17.

Eau Claire's home schedule will include a few different start times. Most home games will begin at 6:35 PM, with a few exceptions. Friday night home games will begin at 7:05 PM and Sunday home games will begin at 5:05 PM. The Thursday, July 4 game will begin at 6:05 PM to accommodate the City of Eau Claire's fireworks display. Eau Claire has hosted a game on Independence Day for nine straight seasons. This year's opponent is the Madison Mallards. The schedule features seven games on Sunday, which includes the season's first and last home games. The Express will play six times on Saturday and five times each on Thursday and Friday. Eau Claire will play 17 of its 35 home games in the first half of the season, which wraps up at Carson Park on July 3. The longest homestand of the schedule spans from July 25 through August 1 and includes seven games and one off-day.

The promotional schedule for 2013 will be released in the coming weeks, with many popular events from 2012 returning. Featured again will be bobblehead and trading card giveaways, fireworks shows and an appearance by the Inflatamaniacs. The best way to guarantee a reserved seat for one of these featured promotions is to purchase a 5-game pack. Each package has a cost of $65 and includes a reserved grandstand seat, all you can eat and drink, guaranteed giveaways and never a wasted ticket policy. All packages include different dates and are for Thursday, Friday or Saturday home games.
