Northern Arizona Wranglers News Release
Okezie-Okeke joins the Wranglers for his first season in the Indoor Football League. Okezie-Okeke participated in the Major League Football training camp in 2022, before the league folded prior to the league's opening week of games. Okezie-Okeke last played football in 2019 at North Carolina Central University, which is in Durham, N.C. Okezie-Okeke was an integral piece of the Eagles offensive line, earning a Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference (MEAC) Notable Performer Award for his exceptional offensive line play. In both 2018 and 2019, Okezie-Okeke earned a spot on the MEAC All-Academic team. Okezie-Okeke also earned a 2019 Preseason All-MEAC third team selection. Okezie-Okeke received his bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering after transferring to Kennesaw State University, which is in Kennesaw, Ga. Okezie-Okeke was not eligible to play as a senior at Kennesaw State after the transfer.
Okezie-Okeke is originally from Woodstock, Ga., where he attended River Ridge High School. As Okezie-Okeke grew up in Georgia, he noticed that football was a big deal to many people around him. Okezie-Okeke recalls driving by a football field around the age of six years old and being very intrigued by the sport. Okezie-Okeke started playing the sport to get out of the house, and get active, and developed a love for the game after watching his brother play and deciding to play the sport himself as well.
When asked what has inspired him to continue playing football, Okezie-Okeke stated, "I feel like I have unfinished business with the game, I can't let my career end on something out of my control. I want to play football on my own terms." Okezie-Okeke expanded by saying, "I am ready to get back to playing football, I have been working hard with my teammates from Kennesaw State on training and fundamentals."
Okezie-Okeke is ready to rise to the challenge of playing in the IFL. Okezie-Okeke stated, "I am looking forward to seeing the level of competition in the IFL. I want to see where I can stack up, and challenge myself to rise above the rest." When asked what the fans should be able to expect from Okezie-Okeke, he responded by saying, "The Wranglers fans can expect to see a guy that will bring a lot of energy and enthusiasm to the team and someone that works hard for everything he gets."
