Burks, 6'2", 235 lbs., will be playing his first season as a professional, in the Indoor Football League, with the Wranglers. Burks started his collegiate career at Tiffin University, which is in Tiffin, Ohio. In 2017, Burks earned himself a selection on the Second Team All-Great Lakes Intercollegiate Conference (GLIAC) squad. In 2019, Burks transferred to Eastern Michigan University for one season, which is located in Ypsilanti, Mich. Burks made the decision to go back to Tiffin, for his final two seasons, and became an even bigger impact player for the Dragons defensive unit.

In his collegiate career, Burks notched 154 tackles, 18.5 tackles for loss, 7.5 sacks, one interception and one pass defended. Burks earned himself a spot on the First Team All-Great Midwest Athletic Conference (GMAC) squad in 2020, and was also named to the Second Team All-GMAC squad in 2021. Burks played alongside the Wranglers newly signed quarterback Nick Watson at Tiffin. Burks explained that he and Watson have been very close since starting their collegiate careers together at Tiffin. Burks graduated from Tiffin with his master's degree in psychology.

Burks is originally from Reynoldsburg, Ohio, and played high school football close to home at Pickerington Central High School. Burks was inspired to play football as a kid by his dad and brother. Burks explained that his dad was a successful player at the collegiate level. Burks expanded by saying, "I wanted to follow in my dad and brother's footsteps and have fun with it." Burks cites his goals and dreams as his inspiration to continue playing football. Burks stated, "My own potential within the game drives me to keep playing. I have always wanted to be a professional athlete." Burks explained that he wants to see how far he can take it in his football career.

Burks is excited for his first season in the IFL with the Wranglers. Burks stated, "I am looking forward to learning a new game within football. It's always a blessing to get the opportunity to play football." Burks knows that there will be a learning curve with the indoor game, but he's ready to rise to the challenge.

When addressing Wranglers Nation, Burks stated, "With the success that the Wranglers had last year, we want to come in and make sure that there is no drop off." Burks explained that he wants to continue the championship level of success that the team has established. Burks closed his thoughts by saying, "I am excited to be out there for the Wranglers in 2023."
